The 20 Homes Cleaner Water Project is proof that community-driven action works. When neighbors, local businesses, and independent journalists come together around a shared purpose, real change happens — not in boardrooms, but on the ground, in the homes of the people who need it most.
This project installs water filtration systems, conducts independent water quality testing, and connects residents with the information they need to ask better questions about their water. Every home we reach is a family with more information, a community with more power, and a data point that contributes to the larger investigation.
How It Works
Identify
We work with community members to identify households most affected by water quality issues — prioritizing families with children, elderly residents, and those with documented health concerns.
Test
Independent lab testing is conducted at each home before and after installation. Results are published publicly in our Check the Receipts database — no data is hidden.
Install
Certified technicians install point-of-use filtration systems at no cost to the household. We source equipment from vetted suppliers with no financial stake in our coverage.
Follow Up
We return at 30, 90, and 180 days to retest water quality, replace filters, and document outcomes. Every result is published.

Request a Home Assessment
If you or someone you know may be affected by water quality issues, submit a request. We will reach out to schedule a free assessment and water test.
Volunteer
We need people on the ground — helping with outreach, logistics, and community education. No special skills required, just a willingness to show up.
